Hey guys, Alex here…

This is my story on how I quit smoking cigarettes.

Why I quit smoking? Well, I’m in my mid 20s and started cigarettes as a teenager. Maybe you’re in the same boat? Anyway, I honestly LOVED smoking until problem signs started creeping up on me. Waking up in the morning short of breath, and wheezing was the one that really made me rethink my habit. If I was wheezing and coughing at 25, what would I be doing in ten years? 15 years? You get the picture…

I realized…if I don’t stop now, I’ll wake up one day – still a smoker – with worse problems than I had now.

So I began my mission to find a solution, and through trial and error found out what didn’t work, but more importantly found the one thing that help me quit smoking forever. I wanted to share my story because I know how many people struggle with nicotine addiction like I did. I hope you can benefit from my story.

Over the past year, I tried all the standard methods you hear about — nicotine gum, nicotine patches, perscriptions to quit nicotine. However, I always ended up bad in my pack a day routine. The patches really weren’t bad, but I got tired of them making me lightheaded. As for the gum, it tasted awful and gave me stomach cramps!

I started thinking about the nicotine inhaler. It made sense…I mean, don’t smokers get hooked on the repetition of smoking? Then I saw a video about something called an electronic cigarette.

(Off to the right side of the page is a link to the video I first saw about ‘e-cigarettes’.) —->

I realized then that, if they worked, my goal to quit smoking forever might actually be attainable! There was a lot about the idea that got me excited:

*No smell of smoke
*Free of the dangerous additives found in cigarettes
*ability to step down strength of nicotine from high/medium/low/nicotine free

I wasn’t crazy about the fact that it was a newer technology, which meant I couldn’t find one down at the corner drugstore, so of course I turned to the Internet where they are readily available. I found some discussion groups where members had successfully used the electronic cigarette to quit smoking, and found a company that had a low cost trial of their electric cigarette. It’s been several months since I quit cigarettes, and I’m not looking back anytime soon!

I hope you found this info useful, hopefully the time and money I spent finding a solution to quit nicotine can save you the time, money, and hassle.

Hey, Alex here with my 3 biggest tips for anyone looking to stop nicotine addiction…

Stop Nicotine Addiction Tip #1: Learn from others who have quit nicotine successfully

That’s why you’re here, right?

I tried all the nicotine replacement methods (and failed) and was always researching ‘the latest and greatest’ to find that solution that would finally help me quit smoking for good.

When I first found out about electronic cigarettes, I wanted to know how many smokers successfully quit using the electronic cigarette? I found out it’s too soon to say for sure, and no organized studies have been performed to date. But I joined some electronic cigarette forums and would see many testimonials of people who have kicked the habit for good using these things. Some of these success stories are from people who have smoked over a pack a day for decades.

Stop Nicotine Addiction Tip #2: Find what works for you

Are electronic cigarettes the solution to stop nicotine addiction? The companies who sell these devices are obviously not in a position to tell you that. Because the FDA has not approved electronic cigarettes, they are not being sold as smoking cessation devices, but rather as a healthier method of nicotine replacement for people who want smoke in public places.

E-cigarettes are an alternative nicotine delivery system. Common sense told me that they could be effectively used as part of an overall how to quit smoking program, similar to the way nicotine gum, patches and inhalers are. And it would give me that ‘action’ of holding a cigarette that I was used to.

And here is an interesting fact about electronic cigarette nicotine cartridges: They come in several different nicotine levels – high, medium, low, and zero nicotine. So a person could slowly wean themselves from their nicotine addiction by progressively lowering their intake levels, right? It’s important to note that even a cartridge with a “high” nicotine level still delivers considerably less nicotine per inhale than a traditional cigarette. At this point I was intrigued you could say…

Stop Nicotine Addiction Tip #3: Commit to quit

Here’s the bottom line: No device is going to be a “silver bullet” that can make a smoker quit overnight. Successfully quitting forever starts with a strong desire to quit nicotine. If a person truly wants to quit then the electronic cigarette may prove to be a very helpful tool in realizing that goal.

But let’s face it… many smokers DON’T want to quit! They just enjoy smoking too much. For this group, electronic smoking can be a much healthier alternative… hopefully one that will keep them alive a lot longer.

Discover how quit nicotine for good -- Includes the story of a pack a day smoker who tried nicotine gum and everything else, and finally succeeded. Also tips on how to quit smoking for good.

Today I want to talk about something important…

Why is it so tough to quit nicotine?

Finding out how to quit smoking should be simple enough, right? I mean, there’s a ton of stuff out there that claims its the best. And based on the commercial I just saw for a ‘quit smoking drug’, 40-some MILLION Americans smoke, so you would think there’d be a quick solution, right?

Seems like Well, I can only speak from personal experience but if we think about the way smoking hooks you it’s pretty ingenious. You get used to routines: having a cigarette with your coffee in the morning, or when you’re driving in the car. How much do you smoke when you’re out at a bar?… I’m embarrassed to even answer that one.
But its not just the nicotine and other chemicals that get you hooked, is it?

But is there something more, Yeah I think there is.

It’s the repetition of holding something in your hand and the social aspect of a smoke break with coworkers (or with friends outside class.) That’s why the nicotine gum and the other stuff never worked for me…there were things about smoking I MISSED that I didn’t get with the gum or the nicotine patches.

But I could be wrong… what’s your thoughts on this? How will you feel when you finally do learn how to quit nicotine and be done with cigarettes for good?
